We’re on the final stretch of 16 Days for Youth and we’re working our way back to HQ in Green Point (well it’s still a while away, but we’re getting there).
Heading to Caledon, we joined Early Year Services yet again to aid them in their great task of Early Childhood Development. They have to facilitate the different centres in all the different areas and today we spent the day at Sinobuntu Centre. This centre services the Uitsig area, which include Riemvasmaak and Sante Perseel.

There are over 40 children at this centre and we spent the day getting breakfast and lunch ready for children and teachers. We then proceeded to build goal posts for their fields and fixing up what needed to be fixed in their play area, ie windows, taps, etc. It was a DIY day allround and everyone got involved.

The school runs on prepaid electricity and water and we needed to assist here as well. The funds for this is acquired through school fees, however due to dire circumstances, the parents aren’t always able to pay school fees and this means that often there is no electricity or running water.
Despite the rain, the kids were excited and curious to see what was happening and also play with their new toys.
