Day Seven was dominated by the mighty storm that hit the Cape. Schools across the province were instructed by the Western Cape Education Department to shut down, and our plans of visiting the community and primary school of Avian Park were cancelled. Wind speeds were forecast between 40 and 80 km per hour in the Breede River Valley and any one of the crew will bear testament to that. With the help of traffic services and the weather office, the team was given a window of opportunity to travel between Worcester and Tulbagh. We arrived at our destination safely, but not without witnessing some of the havoc the storm caused.
